Public Art

Quality public art will seize the viewer’s attention while growing richer to those who spend the time to develop a relationship with it. It is part of the artist’s duty to make sure that the community voice is heard.

In the Summer of 2008, I was commissioned to design a series of images to complete an operatic collaboration between composer Paul Moravec and Poet Ted Kooser. The resulting 60 graphite and charcoal drawings completed the “The Blizzard Voices” and performed by Opera Omaha.

In Autumn of 2008, I began a series of four murals in the library of Dundee Elementary School in Omaha, NE. Each wall bears a tree as a central motif, but weaves references to children’s books suggested by schoolchildren and faculty. The result is a literary primer developed and embraced by the library community.
