Dundee Elementary Library

Over the course of 2008, Watie White Studio designed and implemented a series of mural within the Dundee Elementary School's cavernous library. Beginning as tree--based landscapes reflecting seasons and directional locations, they quickly grew in response to the input of students, librarians and the artist's own relationship with reading to his Children.

The result was hundreds of hidden references to specific characters, stories and novels beloved by the community that uses and lives within the library. An annotated binder explaining and tracing every reference was created to guide the librarians in the use of this community-produced reading primer. A visit in 2018 revealed that it has been actively used to guide and engage readers of every grade throughout their career in the school.
