Since 2004, I've worked primarily with non-professional models, being drawn to their stories and experiences as much as their physical selves. Using the conventions and composition of a existing painting which holds personal significance to my model, I weave their own responses to the questions posed by their own choice of inspiration. At once both formal and absurd, these paintings are populated by anecdotes and unclear references which show a portrait of my model more accurately than a straightforward path.
